Visual Resources Association: Statement on the fair use of images for teaching, research, and study "Outlines uses of copyrighted still images that the VRA believes fall within fair use including: preservation (storing images for repeated use in a teaching context & transferring images to new formats); use of images for teaching purposes; use of images (large, high-resolution images & thumbnails) on course websites & in other online study materials; adaptations of images for teaching & classroom work by students; & sharing images among educational institutions to facilitate teaching & study."
Music Copying - Recordings
May make a single recording of student performances. The recording may be retained for evaluation purposes only.
May make relatively brief excepts (that is, only as much as is necessary) of commercial or other recordings of copyrighted music may be used without permission of the copyright holder.
May not reproduce musical recordings or convert them to another format (e.g., record to tape, tape to cassette, etc.) without written permission.
