Tutoring Appointments, Policies, and Tips

The Academic Support Center, helps students with their questions and concerns about classwork, assignments, academic expectations, and study skills. Most tutoring sessions are one-on-one, in conversations to determine needs. Science sessions are often conducted in small groups. Tutoring in writing, math, and other disciplines are primarily offered in 50-minute one-on-one sessions. In-person and online appointments are available.

Tutoring Tips
Come prepared for your session. Be on time. Remember to cancel appointments you are not able to keep. Cancelations can be completed through the TracCloud appointment system, by emailing the ASC (asc@chesapeake.edu), or by calling the ASC/MSC at 410-827-5854. Too many missed appointments will impact your privilege to schedule future appointments.

Have a plan for what you want to get out of the tutoring session. Compile a list of questions and bring all relevant course materials (e.g., class notes, textbook(s), returned tests or quizzes, etc.) to your session. Being prepared ensures your experience will be positive and productive.

Know your tutor's role.
Tutors will not complete or assist with specific homework, projects, writing and/or research assignments. Tutors may not be able to answer all questions.

Share your feedback
Please share experiences with our services. You can provide your feedback in two ways:

  • Share feedback by logging-in to TracCloud
  • Share feedback using the survey kiosks located in the ASC and MSC after the final exam period closes. Your feedback is important and helps improve tutoring services at Chesapeake.
